We moved to another state a few months ago and we have not travelled much. The kids wanted to stay home (our new one!) for Christmas so we compromised and went to Shreveport for a few days just before Christmas.
There is a ton of things to do around this city! We took the kids to the aquarium where they got to pet jelly fish and manta rays – how cool!
A visit to America’s first water treatment plant with a tour filled half of a day for us too. It’s not often you see where water was first filtered and then later disinfected. The city were really pioneers in this realm – think about how many cities across the United States filter and treat their own water now. There is also a model train museum here; it happened to be closed for remodeling at the time, but the gentleman working on it was kind enough to let us in the museum while he was still working on it and give us a personal tour. Awesome!
There is also a pretty neat science museum in town. There are lots of interactive things for the kids to do and learn from. I definitely recommend a visit if you happen to be in town.
We rounded out the rest of the trip with a visit to the zoo to see some critters. I did not get a picture of them, but while one of my kids was in the bathroom a female peacock landed on the roof of the bathroom and started squawking. Of course the rest of us had a chuckle over this.
