WOW! This place is awesome!!!!! Truly one of the Wonders of the World!
If you ever get the chance to make your way over to the Grand Canyon, you should definitely do so.
This was our big trip – we had planned and booked everything last year but everything got cancelled due to Covid. So as soon as we knew the park was open again (and the campground we had booked!) we got this trip back on the calendar.
This is one of the major trips I wanted to take my kids on, and there was no disappointment! We spent a few days hiking around the Southern Rim, and went a ways down the Bright Angel Trail before turning around to go back up. It’s a long hike both down and up – while we did bring our Camelbaks and snacks, I don’t think I could have carried one or both kids back up 😉
We were blessed with beautiful weather – it started out over 100 the first day we arrived, but dropped back to the high 80’s/low 90’s. It is still super arid so we drank much more water than usual and probably went through a bottle of sunscreen even with the SPF 50 shirts we bought specifically for this trip. Sturdy hiking shoes are a must as well – you’ll spend a lot of time walking and seeing everything. Or at least seeing as much as you can. The place is so big!
