We had so much fun at Sea World the previous year, we decided to go back! And as a surprise for the kids, I sprung for the Penguin Encounter. We got to pet a penguin!
I didn’t get a picture of it, but when they let us into the petting area for the penguins and opened the gate one of the penguins ran in and grabbed a tiny rock that was in the area and promptly ran back out with it. Apparently she was nesting and is known for snatching tiny pebbles in the corral to take back to her nest.
We learned SO much about penguins! The boys got to see how the food was made, what it was made of, as well as the checkups the penguins routinely get. And we found out that some penguins get a fake egg to sit on… Go search the reason for that up!
